Web Design is offered as a 12-month diploma program for those who wish to develop their skills to specialize in Web design or to enable a career change. The program is designed to offer courses at times that best accommodate busy schedules. Traditional classes are offered at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh evenings and Saturdays and, for additional flexibility, all courses in the program can be taken online.
The curriculum consists of 15 courses that provide students with a comprehensive overview of Web design. Introductory courses include basic world wide Web technologies, HTML scripting, and design and preparation of screen graphics. Intermediate courses cover Web site planning and development, operating systems, network technology, and desktop editing. Students complete their studies with a digital portfolio course, the outcome of which is a showcase of their work and skills to deliver to prospective employers.
The Web Design diploma program provides students with skills needed to seek entry-level positions such as Web site designer, Web artist, content developer, and multimedia producer.
